Day Three Recap: Twin Day
Three days down, two to go! Spirit week has been a blast so far, and today was no exception. Today’s dress-up day was so wild that it had everyone seeing double – literally. Twin Day was out in full swing at JCHS, and siblings weren’t just the theme for student outfits.
The oldest and youngest grades came out on top in today’s competitions, with the Seniors maintaining their overall lead and the Freshmen gaining ground on the other grades. The games kicked off at lunch with a high-stakes basketball Knockout game, and the 9th graders once again showcased their basketball expertise, despite having the least experience on the court among the grades. As per the theme of the day, younger brother Akiva Jasper (‘26) managed to claim the crown over Emunah Jasper (‘23), even being the one to get her out in the process.
Next up were a couple of relays that paired two grade representatives together – sort of like siblings – and while 9th graders Kai Koshio (‘26) and Josiah Spencer (‘26) managed to win the Wheelbarrow Race, the older siblings managed to take the 3-Legged Race, with Mal Lifsitz (‘23) and Shana Sklovsky (‘23) showing the younger grades the power of teamwork and experience. Dynamic duo Akiva Pelta (‘23) and Amir Cohen Simayof (‘23) destroyed the Pickleball Competition in dominant fashion, not even losing a single point. At the end of the day, however, it was the Freshmen who had the last laugh, winning Chess Blitz and exhibiting their mental fortitude. After today’s scores were tallied, the Seniors point total was at 780, extending their lead to 110 points, and the 9th graders’ solid showing today put them 20 points behind the Juniors and 70 points away from the Sophomores.
